Why I don't accept insurance directly

Insurance companies can be a valuable resource, but they also come with real limitations: a mental health diagnosis is required for reimbursement even if one doesn't clearly apply, the number of covered sessions is often capped, and insurers can have significant say in how your care is structured. Working outside of insurance means our sessions stay focused entirely on what's most helpful for you, for as long as that's useful — without a third party in the room.

Using out-of-network benefits

While I don't bill insurance directly, many PPO plans offer out-of-network (OON) reimbursement, meaning you may be able to be reimbursed for a portion of what you pay. After each session, I provide a superbill — an itemized receipt with the information your insurance company needs to process a claim. I'd recommend calling the number on the back of your insurance card and asking about your out-of-network mental health benefits, your deductible, and your reimbursement rate before we begin, so you have a clear sense of what to expect.
